Gingerbread house pic !!

I enjoyed decorating if sooooo much fun!

Miles' whale painting

He's been bringing home his art work. Brought this home yesterday. I think it's fantastic, for a little 6 year old.
Anyway, need to think of a way to display it now....

Ta-Daaaaaaa!!!!

Gingerbread house decorating = done!

Such fun seeing the Playgroup mums too :)

End of an era as its their final year there this year.. I left in April when I came back to full time work, but I would have another year as Greta doesn't start school till 2015, however, working full time until June next year (if all goes well with my new job), and I wouldn't want to go back next year with none of the original mums there.. Sad but Greta never liked going after Miles started school.

Anyway, my gingerbread house photo (edited to add: arghhhh, won't let me post it grrrrrr, I'll try later).

Lil' sicky

Yep, Greta..

Started on Saturday after ballet, although she wasn't herself at ballet.  Anyway, full blown cold by Sunday. Jonathan stated home on Monday with her. Although she really wanted me so I left early and went home to her. Was home with her on tues & wed too.. Which was fine as I must admit I've kinda checked out of my job her.. I've 2 weeks left (less if I'm approved to leave early),
Hoping I can finish up on the Wednesday. Not much fun working somewhere when you've sorta moved on.. So was ok to spend the days at home with sick Greta but on the flip side of the coin, I have so many bits and bobs to finish up I really don't want to leave stuff for the 2 guts remaining in the team as they'll be flat out going form a team of 5 down to 2!
So lots to do...urghhh..

Greta is most likely just run down, we've not had a holiday all year, she's not had a full week off all year! That's a lot for a little girl.
Mind you, only time I've had off had been time in hospital of sick with Greta.

Looking forward to 2 full weeks off at Christmas.

Plus, we really need to go on a trip to Fiji or Bali or somewhere next year..need a break, but what with treatments for me thyroid cancer taking up weeks... That's taken priority.

In other news:
Christmas shopping is mostly done.
Just a book for Miles I want to get him and a chess set.
Greta is all done.

Socks & undies for the hubby.

Kids have cricket club tonight, see his Greta feels..

I'm going ginger bread house making with the Playgroup mums.
Will be back with a photo of my creation!

2 weeks to go..

3 weeks till my official finish date but I've asked to leave a few day early.. So as little as 2 weeks left!

Greta is sick, started on Saturday, she wasn't herself at ballet, so excited to get her trophy though.

Here's a pic.. Oh and while I'm at it.. A pic from Miles dressed as a toy solider for his tap dancing concert:

So Greta is home sick with Daddy today..
Wish I was there, it's cold and rainy here today, but really, need to get everything up to date here.. Make sure I hand over with nothing left as the team is losing 3 members in total ovef the next 2 weeks so the remaining 2 will be snowed under.. So trying to leave my part of the work all up to date if possible.

Went Christmas shopping on the weekend., only got a couple bits left to buy. The husbands gift.. Socks & undies he's requested, and a couple bits for Miles., a children's encyclopaedia and a chess set.
I've asked for a pedi/massage for my present,

Just have to wrap them. Not got too much this year as I've just had a massive clear out of all the unused toys.. So not wanting to go crazy and get too much.
But really, now they're older its easier, Greta is really into Barbie dolls and babies.
Miles is really into board game and anything mechanical/with a remote.

Other than that.. Really enjoyed Christmas shopping on the weekend..got a Santa photo!
I'm not a massive fan if these pics but the kids really wanted one, so for only the 2nd year ... We got a Santa pic!
Went to Macquarie shops and it was way better than castle hill, they had a magical winter wonderland set up around Santa:

All for now

Is it Friday yet

The hubby is away in Melbourne this week and despite complaining (which I seem to have done a lot lately) that he doesn't do anything and I do everything yada yada whinge whinge, hen he's away, jeez it seems so my h harder, do perhaps he does do a wee bit after all....

So I've stayed up far too late the last couple of nights, which means I've been up far too late, not been organised and had to rush the kids to get ready super fast, they're only little so of course they can't and I've got cross and shouted, and yelled, and screamed and really been mother from hell this week, gosh I feel horrid, really need to make it up to them.
So not their fault. I've tuned into this shouting banshee recently, need to be a better mum.
They certainly deserve it.
I'm such a lucky person t have such wonderful little people, I need to be better for them.

Anyway, a few odds & ends:

Job search went well and I've now secured a new job with Cochlear which I'm thrilled about. It's at Macquarie university.
There's on site parking and I get a little pay rise Fromm current job to $83,000 per year.. (And some odd change, nearer to $83k than $84k though).

I start on the 9th dec, finish up here 6th December but asked if I can go a week sooner, like 1 week earlier on the 29th nov.
waiting to hear.

Might just do a list of weekly activities as I've not done them since j started back at work this year but really, the activities haven't stopped, they've just become moved to evening or weekends..

So Monday:
Miles at Kindy, Greta at Ecec (her pre school which is attached to the school miles goes to)

Tuesday:
Same as Monday

Wednesday:
Miles at Kindy and Greta at elbelles (in Kenthurst, a preschool as I started working full time in April and ECEC didn't have space for her)
Miles tap dancing class at dance HQ, dural.

Thursday:
Miles Kindy, Greta ECEC (Greta loves Thursdays as her best friend Justin's is there and so is her fave. Teacher miss Kim)
Before school miles has campernellas, After school we go to the school cricket club for milo cricket.

Friday/
Miles Kindy, Greta elbelles.
Friday afternoons I r started doing mum & miles afternoons but stopped, should start this again.

Saturday:
Miles has piano lessons & swimming
Greta has ballet

Sunday:
Day off!

So it's a full on week.

Looking forward to 2 weeks off over Christmas.
Just need to organise a nanny for a couple weeks when we will be working and oosh is closed.

Heading to target today in my lunch break to make a start on Christmas shopping.
I've got my parents bought and posted, just need the kids and my nephews.
Need to make an effort as I've been pretty crappy last few years.

Ok.. Hitting the shops.. Will be back with a Christmas present list later.

Interview done!

I don't think that ones a goer, funny thing is, I'm pretty sure I'm not the right fit for the role but I wouldn't be surprised if the offered if to me!!
Crazy... I'd turn it down, it's really not a good fit for me.
I do procurement (only procurement) that role was a mish mash of 25% procurement/25% Facilities management /25% fleet management / 25% damn we don't know what we need you to do today!
Anyway..not a good fit, is I wasn't sure about the manager.. Plus it's way out west, I'm not a fan of he west of our city, I'm a north girl.
As I drove down the free way though...way, way down the free way.. I saw the new wet n wild park being built.. Must check out tickets for that place to take the kids.

I have an interview for a procurement role next Tuesday, really fancy that role, hope if lives up to my expectations!

Miles & Greta have cricket tonight.. They e joined the school cricket club, cute.. Hope they like it.. As with EVERYTHING at school (or even in this country lol) there's a sausage sizzle afterwards!

Ok, best hinting the pest inspectors.. Ants everywhere!

Interview update

So I had a phone interview yesterday for a job I quite fancy.. I got a call later yesterday afternoon to say I'd got through that ok (yay) and would need to then do some online testing.. I did that last night.. Was ok, not too hard, think I did ok there.. So airing to hear if I get invited for a face to face interview now.

I do have an interview at 11am today but not sure the jobs right for me.. Anyhow, I'll go along and see.. It's good interview experience in any case.

On Friday I have to go pick up the 2 boys we are fostering..looking forward to that, seeing them again and getting to know them.
Will need to work out what we can do with then over the weekend that'll be fun for them.

All for now.

Job hunting .....again!

After 6.5 months in my current role, I have a little over a month to go and ... I'm finished here.
Going to miss it.. The hours were perfect (7-3), the location is perfect, but it was always going to be an 8 month contract so ... Time to move on.
The idea of taking short term contract roles was so I could work the majority of the year and then take off the whopping 8 weeks that the private schools have off over the Christmas break.. Hopefully it works out that I can take some time off, but reality is that I need to work to pay the school fees and Greta's pre school fees - which closes down for 4 weeks over Christmas - so may (I hope not though) have to start sooner than the start of Feb which is what I'm hoping for.
I'm applying now anyway and have 2 interviews this week so can't see them waiting 3 months for me to start!
No idea how we're going to manage over the Christmas break though if I've just started a job... I'll have no leave and of course we have no family to help babysit.., well see how these 2 interviews I have this week go I guess...

In other news. We have finally after a year of interviews and training started our careers as foster carers. We have 2 little boys join us on weekends starting from Friday this week.
We've met the boys and they're quite boisterous so I think the plan is to take them out lots to burn off some energy.

Since I was last on here Greta has turned 4. Now have a 6 yr old and a 4 yr old!
Where have the years gone!

All for now

The boy turns 6!

Cannot believe how fast this year has gone.. I'm sure if was only a month ago I was throwing his 5th birthday party...

But nope, he's officially 6 today!

Greta woke up, looked her brother up and down, pouted and announced he couldn't possible be 6 today as he was no taller than when he went to bed last night!
I'm not quite sure what she was expecting..., goodness knows what she'll expect from her birthday in a few weeks time!

A few pics if the birthday boy, from his party on Saturday to follow shortly - when I've downloaded them off the camera!

... thats all!

We have an air con unit fitted!!!!!!!!!

That is all :)

Going downhill..

The in laws started off so well but have sadly stopped showing up to things, started sending nasty e-mails to J's brother complaining about us... Hmmmm, thanks for that, not very nice.. Greta has never liked Mother in law anyway so not too bad.. I think Miles may miss them but he doesn't really ask to see them much anymore, they only come over once or twice a week now.. Have stopped helping out at school, stopped going to events at the school...it's a shame, it usually goes this way at the end.. They've always been very unreliable. But still, they helped out when I first went into hospital so that's fine.. I'll be glad to get back to just the 4 of us, it's getting quite uncomfortable.

Miles is going to Taronga Zoo tomorrow with school, asked the grandparents to go - they said no... As they did to miles' sports carnival..etc etc... Such a shame..
Anyway, he's really looking forward to going.
Very excited actually.

It's my little fella's 6th birthday in a week!! He's having his party on Saturday, will see if the grandparents show up..
We have bought him a Wii and a couple of games for it. Plus a couple of books.
My parents bought him theatre tickets - to Annie the musical.
No doubt he will get a zillion gifts from his school buds.

Work is interesting. They are giving a section of the work we do over to an outsourced service provider, I *think* I'm going to be offered a job with them.. Which is fine, as much as I like where I'm currently working, it's only an 8 month contract, so I may get offered a perm job with the outsourced company.. I really don't know, it's just rumours I've heard, will find out more from my boss tomorrow and then then more in the meeting on Monday next week..

Ok, all for now x

In laws

I'm being spoilt at the moment.
Was a rocky start, still has its moments..but we've got into a good routine.

At the moment they collect both kids from school & pre school on a Tuesday & Thursday. Then on the same mornings, they go to school at 9am for an hour and are 'teachers helpers' helping out with reading group and writing etc... As well as Miles LOVING having them there, it's also lovely having a bit of insider gossip about what Miles is like in class... Very well behaved and very bright apparently :)
They come over and cook dinner for us those 2 days, it's nice to get home from work to dinner ready.

They have mon, tues & fri off then to do as they wish.

They'll be greatly missed when they go home.

I think we have got the right balance, finally after a little hit and miss..

They missed a trick by not moving here 10 years ago when they had the chance...I think they wished they had too.. Or Mum in law does anyway. Oh well, too late now.

All for now.

Long time no see...

....and so much has happened!!

Where to start?

At the beginning I guess - so here's a run down from January onwards...

1. My little fella started school! - he's in Kindy and is LOVING it so much. His favourite teacher from pre school moved over to Kindy as is his class teacher, he's just flying its amazing.. When I consider just over 12 months ago he was diagnosed with social anxiety, he's over come that so much.. Has a lovely group of friends, can speak out in class, he's flying. On ,even 9 readers, top of the class for Maths. Well, we always knew academically he was going to fly, but the social side was always going to be the issue.. I'm so proud of how well he has faced his fears and overcome...and still is overcoming his anxiety issues.

2. My little girl started pre school!
It's attached to the school so is lovely that she sometimes when she goes over to the library or they have assembly, she gets to see her brother:)
So she was doing 3 days a week but.... And his brings me onto point 3, I went back to work this year too!  So she's now doing 5 days a week, which is a bit much for her i admit...and her pre school didn't have space for her the other 2 days so she's got a spot 2 days a week at another pre school up the road has pretty laid back and is more like a family day care really, 2 sisters run it, but they have 3 or 4 staff members too... But very much a none structured environment unlike her proper pre school, which is good as its like a bit of a break for her... But still, I do think 5 days is too much, she's just about to turn 4' I'd prefer 3 or 4 days for her really....

3.  As my munchkins were starting Kindy/pre school, I started looking for work in Jan this year..secured a 5 day a week role with RMS in late Jan, a 9 week contract - decided its best if I contract then I can take short term roles and take the time off for school holidays.  So I talked them into me doing 4 days a week not 5, which was great.. Left there in March and secured an 8 month role with Jemena... Started there in April and that runs until December when I can take off the Christmas break with the kids before I look for another role for next year :)
All going great, really enjoying working and loved RMS.. Would have happily stayed there, but equally enjoying Jemena.. Great location and team.. Plus I try and get there early, 7-7.30am so I can leave at 3pm and get home to collect the kids by 3.30pm.
So my job at Jemena leads me onto point 4.

4. The hard to type/say point...
Here goes.. To secure the job at Jemena, I had to go for a medical.. The Dr, found a lump, thought it would be nothing, passed me as fit to work and sent me of to my GP to get it checked it... After several tests and several weeks....I was diagnosed with cancer.. Utterly terrifying, I think I cried for a week solid. I discovered I'm a pretty weak person, I just kept thinking why me and its just not fair - so utterly terrified..
Fast forward 3 months and I've had surgery, I'm half way through the treatment.. The cancer is all out - we think.. Have to have another treatment where I go into hospital for 2 or so weeks...to get rid of any that may be left over.
Biopsy came back good after surgery.. Much better than we had hoped for, I was so scared going for the results.. I sporting a lovely scar! But it'll heal and I'll be ok - I hope.. Prognosis is excellent.. S I'm hoping I will be ok... I need to be, for my babies..
I feel like I'm over the worst of it now, treatment wise...

That's about all for now.. Pretty much all that's happened.. There was a family trip to Bali last year with my parents and a visit from mother in law this year... Hoping to save for a trip to Hawaaii next year... And yep, all for now.
