Long time no see...

....and so much has happened!!

Where to start?

At the beginning I guess - so here's a run down from January onwards...

1. My little fella started school! - he's in Kindy and is LOVING it so much. His favourite teacher from pre school moved over to Kindy as is his class teacher, he's just flying its amazing.. When I consider just over 12 months ago he was diagnosed with social anxiety, he's over come that so much.. Has a lovely group of friends, can speak out in class, he's flying. On ,even 9 readers, top of the class for Maths. Well, we always knew academically he was going to fly, but the social side was always going to be the issue.. I'm so proud of how well he has faced his fears and overcome...and still is overcoming his anxiety issues.

2. My little girl started pre school!
It's attached to the school so is lovely that she sometimes when she goes over to the library or they have assembly, she gets to see her brother:)
So she was doing 3 days a week but.... And his brings me onto point 3, I went back to work this year too!  So she's now doing 5 days a week, which is a bit much for her i admit...and her pre school didn't have space for her the other 2 days so she's got a spot 2 days a week at another pre school up the road has pretty laid back and is more like a family day care really, 2 sisters run it, but they have 3 or 4 staff members too... But very much a none structured environment unlike her proper pre school, which is good as its like a bit of a break for her... But still, I do think 5 days is too much, she's just about to turn 4' I'd prefer 3 or 4 days for her really....

3.  As my munchkins were starting Kindy/pre school, I started looking for work in Jan this year..secured a 5 day a week role with RMS in late Jan, a 9 week contract - decided its best if I contract then I can take short term roles and take the time off for school holidays.  So I talked them into me doing 4 days a week not 5, which was great.. Left there in March and secured an 8 month role with Jemena... Started there in April and that runs until December when I can take off the Christmas break with the kids before I look for another role for next year :)
All going great, really enjoying working and loved RMS.. Would have happily stayed there, but equally enjoying Jemena.. Great location and team.. Plus I try and get there early, 7-7.30am so I can leave at 3pm and get home to collect the kids by 3.30pm.
So my job at Jemena leads me onto point 4.

4. The hard to type/say point...
Here goes.. To secure the job at Jemena, I had to go for a medical.. The Dr, found a lump, thought it would be nothing, passed me as fit to work and sent me of to my GP to get it checked it... After several tests and several weeks....I was diagnosed with cancer.. Utterly terrifying, I think I cried for a week solid. I discovered I'm a pretty weak person, I just kept thinking why me and its just not fair - so utterly terrified..
Fast forward 3 months and I've had surgery, I'm half way through the treatment.. The cancer is all out - we think.. Have to have another treatment where I go into hospital for 2 or so weeks...to get rid of any that may be left over.
Biopsy came back good after surgery.. Much better than we had hoped for, I was so scared going for the results.. I sporting a lovely scar! But it'll heal and I'll be ok - I hope.. Prognosis is excellent.. S I'm hoping I will be ok... I need to be, for my babies..
I feel like I'm over the worst of it now, treatment wise...

That's about all for now.. Pretty much all that's happened.. There was a family trip to Bali last year with my parents and a visit from mother in law this year... Hoping to save for a trip to Hawaaii next year... And yep, all for now.

Miles

So had a meeting with Miles' preschool teachers last week and turns out they think i may be 'gifted'.. also a little worried he may have some social anxiety issues, not sure if that is just because he is smart though, he doesnt want to play with the other 4 yr olds if he has the mental age of an 8 or 9 yr old.
So anyway we had a meeting with a lady at the local Hills family clinic to chat about it and arrange testing for Miles etc.. so all thats in the process at the moment.

You hear gifted and you think oh great he's smart, nothing wrong there, but then you realise all these other issues come from it that its like feeding a monster as he has a huge thirst for knowledge, and also he cant play with others in his playgroup/mumsgroup/preschool as he is mentally twice their ago so no stimulation for him.. anyway we are going down the track of speaking to the right professionals to assist him best and im sure the school will be just fantastic with him too..

in other news. diet still going well, had a little break for a couple of weeks but will get back on that next week.  Lost 23 kgs i think now :)

J entered some contest to guess the eggs in a jar and guess correctly and won this:

Just when you finally get through the easter eggs stash haha!

Stuff the kids are doing:

Greta:
  1.  sings whole songs, been doing this for months though.
  2. counts to 20
  3. Can sing ABC, if you say a letter, any random letter she can tell you the next one.
  4. talks so well, 10 or 20 word sentences
  5. still cant just but is now able to run and runs ALL the time
  6. is becoming a daddys girl and will go to bed with him reading her a story, but ususally then wont settle so i have to go in and do the bedtime routine again with her
  7. is obsessed with closing doors, and will walk aroudn closing cupbaords after us, adn always puts he shoes together neatly.. bit of a neat freak..
  8. Stil an amazing little eater and will eat ANYTHING, still loves sultanans the most.
  9. OBSESSED with the faires TV show and books and anythign to do with fairies and princesses really, pink glittery stuff etc.
AHHH battery on laptop dying will come back with Miles' list later, and more for Greta.

Potty Training Greta.

Fantastic day today. Only 1 accident.  4 wees and i poop in the potty.

She's loving the sticker chart i made her.  I got her some fairy stickers and she's been telling me when she needs to wee or poo and she hops on the potty and does one :)
Very proud of my little girl.
To think Miles was 3 when i trained him!
Greta's not quite 2 and a half yet and she's got it.  I think Miles was ready before actually but i wasn't sure what i was doing with him being my first.

Anyway... so long nappies :)

In other news... We all have colds.  Staying home this week. Jonathan is only working till Wednesday and had 5 days off then.  So i'll just stay home on Monday and Tuesday and then go to Playgroup on Wednesday, meant to have Mums Group on Wednesday but will have to give it  a miss this week with us all being sick and not sure Greta is up to a 20 min drive in the car with only just potty training.

Weightloss.  I'm down almost 22 kgs now from Oct when i started my weight loss mission, happy with that.  another 20 or so to go yet though.

Miles is (at 4.5yrs old) :
Learning French at Pre school, loving it, says Hello, goodbuy, My name is, sit down, stand up, listen, quiet, cross your legs.. a few other words i cant remember now.

going great with his piano lessons.  He's in the advanced class now and learning a couple of songs a week, which means daily practice, he is playing with both hands too.  Just started to teach him Jingle Bells.

His eating is going really really well.  He hardly ate anything from the ages of 2-4 but recently he eats anythign put in front of him, doesn't always like it but will try most things.
His favourties are Nacho's, chicken pie, carrots, SAO's with vegemite and mashed potatoes.
Still loves his watermelon and strawberries too!

Greta is (at 2yrs and 6 months):
\
Counting to 15 by herself.

can sing the ABC song all way through herself.

Potty trained (almost).

Can sing several songs by herself, twinkle twinkle and open shut them are faves.

LOVES the Faires, slightly obsessed actually i think! Has the CD playing in the car, and we read her the books at bedtime.  She has 3 of the dolls from the series too.

Taken the side of her cot down about 4 months ago now, so its like a bed really, no problems there, loves it and clombs in herself.
Has 2 bedtime stories read to her then kiss her good night and leave her too it and don't hear a peep till morning :)

Still having a day still for 2 or 3 hours.

She eats literally ANYTHING, always been an amazing little eater.  Fave things are Sultana's and rice wheels for snacks.  Loves pasta and boild eggs for meals.
She's a BIG meat eater, will always eat the meat off her plate first.  Loves ham or turkey sandwhiches.

Ok thats about it.

Busy busy week

Monday we stayed home.

Tuesday we went to story time at the library.

Today was meant to be a trip to the shops to pay off my layby but ended up runng out of petrol so had to call Jeep assist.. they came an hour later so just had time to get to play group!
After that we went to get miles hair cut, post office and then off to the shops to hunt for hair dye spray for Miles for Preschool crazy hair day tomorrow.
Had lunch out with the kids.  I ordered this chicken pie thing i love and always used to eat, its a big plate of food and i used to eat it all and chip on top.. but today, i only managed half of it and no chips at all!
Guess my tummy is shrinking :)
21.5 kgs i've now lost.. or 3 stones in old money lol.
Still have a load of washing to put away and have to want to have a tidy up and its a bit messy.

Thursday i have to spray Miles' hair blue, drop him at preschool then go do the weekly food shop, i might take Greta to story time too while im up there at the library.. not sure how we will go without Miles there, she never does anything on her own.. the 2 days Miles is at preschool i usually just stay home with her.. but from next month she is starting ballet classes so i guess we will need to get used to doign stuff just on her own.
Have to go to collect a lay by at 2 sets of shops, really want to try on a couple pair of pants too to get something to fit me!
Then home to pay a few bills.

Friday no plans during the day but at night i am going out to dinner with friends.

No plans for saturday yet but on Sunday J is going away for work so plan on taking the kids out to some event or other in Hornsby and will get fish and chips for us all on the way home...

Then Monday next week i have tickets for the zoo so will most likely do that.

Tuseady story time.

Wednesday playgroup and we have a dinner with the principal of the kids school (which Miles is currently in the precschool of)..Need to find something to wear as nothing fits me now ive lost so much weight!

Thursday food shop and story time for Greta (Miles will be at pre school)

  • Greta is going amazingly, she talks so so well, she can say up to 10 word sentences, knows ABC, can count to 20.. can do amazing puzzles that Miles wasn't doing till he was at least a year older than her if not more.
  • Sleepts 6.15pm till 8am and has a 2 or 3 hour nap most days.
  • I've joined up for PAFA at Miles' Preschool (well Miles & Greta's as Greta will start in Jan next yr)  - Its part of the school as well so its great as the pre-school is attached to the school so they will make friends at the preschool and all move up to the school together.

update

Busy couple of weeks.

  • Had Miles Pre-school orientaion and our interview with the head of the Pre-school.
  • kids Christmas party a Playgroup friends house with her kids and some others - Miles had a ball playing with his friends and Greta had a ball eating all the yummy food!
  • Miles appointment with his surgeon - all looks good and made an appointment to to have his cast removed on the 10th Jan.
  • Had  a lovely meal out with Greta's Mums group and OMG all we did was laugh, GREAT night :)
  • Jonathan is recovering from the MANFLU!  He's actually been too bad and hasn't passed it on to the kids thankfully.
  • Went to a Pantamime at the Library, it was really good..lots of chaising and kids squealing, both Miles & Greta LOVED it. Santa came for a visit at the end and Greta ate her own body weight in jelly Snakes!
  • Took them to the last Story time at the library for the year, was ok, lots of craft and singing but was a bit chaotic.
  • J had his 2 Christmas parties, complete with bollywood costume i had to go acquire for him lol!
  • Took the kids into the city to J's work Christmas party - they had such a ball and i got to wander around the city for a couple hours window shopping.  Miles got a Scooter from Santa and Greta got a Barbie - both LOVE their gifts :)
  • Did food shop today.. not too bad, i got a turkey, a ham, a roast pork, some choclates and big tin of biscuits and spent just under the $200 mark so im ok with that.  I spend $100 - $140 most weeks on food so an extra $60 on hams and turkey and biscuits and chocs  was pretty good i thought.
Other than that i thought i might do a quick list of the kids Christmas presents:

Miles;
Little robot - remote control
Toy shop - to share with Greta (they LOVE to play shops together)
Lego - of a hospital
Dr's bag and accessories inc an x-ray machine
Tools and metal robot thing to make up (from his auntie)
Some books
Bubbles for his bubble maker
Ant farm

Greta:
New born baby doll
Barbie doll
Books
Dorothy cuddly
Dora doll
dora castle
Pram (from her auntie)
Vacuum cleaner (from Grandma)
and 3 great big boxes from My parents that i have no idea whats in them!

So i think they did pretty well.

Its been really tight this month, we have to pay for Miles' medical expenses on the 10th Jan so need to work that out somehow - but i get my tax return soon so that should cover a third of it.

Going on holiday in Feb and haven't saved nearly enough for that, so need to be really good with money in Jan in order to save enough for that!

Thats about it really.
